SPC Success in Southampton
The final weekend of 2024 saw the last of the PickleB Joola tournament of the year, hosted in Southampton.
With 200+ players eager to see out the year with one last win, several of Swindon Pickleball Club’s players attended.
Lucy and Bob took part in the 3.5 50+ mixed doubles event and did well getting through the first round. Phil and Nicky played 3.0 50+ mixed doubles and also made it through to the quarterfinals. Phil and Bob played 3.5 50+ gender doubles and did awesome to reach the quarter finals. Congrats to Nicky who also played 3.0 50+ women’s with Jenny and narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in a closely fought match going to 3 games and losing by just 2 points!
Huge congratulations go to Sharon and Phoebe who got their first medals of 2024 in the 3.0 18+ gender doubles! Congrats to Jo too – silver in the 3.5 50+ gender doubles playing with Sharon from Bristol PC, and coming 5th in her first 4.0 50+ mixed doubles category.
Swindon players have truly caught the tournament bug throughout 2024 and we are excited to welcome in the new year and see what successes our players will acheive this year.
