Inter-Club Match - SPC vs Royal Wootton Bassett Tennis Club

The second leg of the friendly rivalry between SPC and RWB Pickleball Clubs took place on November 23rd, following the inaugural match held at RWB a few months ago. This time, the action shifted to SPC’s courts, promising another day of fun, friendly competition, and a healthy dose of sportsmanship.

Both clubs fielded teams of eight eager players, ready to battle it out across two rounds of ladies’ and men’s doubles, followed by two rounds of mixed doubles. The matches were characterized by a delightful blend of skill, strategy, and good-natured banter. In the end, SPC emerged victorious, securing a 14-2 win. However, the scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story. Both teams displayed impressive skill and determination, making for some thrilling rallies.

To conclude the event, a full mix-up of players from both clubs was organized for a ladder game. This innovative format ensured that everyone had the opportunity to play with new partners and face different opponents, fostering camaraderie and levelling the playing field. The top court witnessed a nail-biting matches, with two players from each club vying for the top spot. This fitting end to a sporting morning of pickleball encapsulated the true spirit of the event.

As the winter months envelop us, both clubs are eager to continue this friendly rivalry and schedule more matches. The shared passion for pickleball and the desire for friendly competition have laid the foundation for a strong and enduring relationship between SPC and RWB.
